THE GILTSPUR SINGERS
The Giltspur Singers were formed in the autumn of 2003. They took their name from Giltspur Street, which leads up to the entrance of the church where they rehearsed - the church of St Bartholomew-the-Less, inside the grounds of St Bartholomew’s Hospital in the City of London.
The choir sang a broad repertoire of quality choral music, mostly a cappella, ranging from medieval plainsong and early polyphony to contemporary works.
The members of the choir were professionals in a wide range of careers, including the law, finance, education, the leisure industry and I.T. A few were music graduates and some are church organists; but, for the majority, music had always been a hobby: a source of recreation and enjoyment that the Giltspur Singers hoped to share in their concerts.
Sadly, the choir was disbanded in September 2021 on account of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic (directly and indirectly) on the members' lives.
