We hope to resume rehearsals in September 2021
and to give our highly popular concert of
Readings and Music for Christmas
in December 2021

We are currently actively seeking singers for ALL departments (SATB)

About us:
  • We are professionals in a range of careers who live and work in/near London
  • We can read music and sight-read reasonably well (though not always perfectly!)
  • We can sing with good intonation (but we don’t all have perfect pitch!)
  • We mostly sang in chamber/chapel choirs at university or have other experience such as a church or school choir

About the choir:
  • Our repertoire ranges from Renaissance music to contemporary pieces
  • We usually sing a cappella
  • We do ‘homework’ as necessary so that the rehearsals aren’t all about learning the notes
  • We give about four concerts per year in/around the City of London
  • Rehearsals take place on Thursday evenings, from 7.00-8.30pm in the church of St Bartholomew-the-Less, inside the grounds of St Bart's Hospital in the City of London.  It's an easy venue to get to using public transport and there is also parking available
  • Many of us go to the pub afterwards but there's no pressure to do so
  • The rehearsal schedule roughly coincides with school terms
  • Members are expected to attend the vast majority of rehearsals: singing together every Thursday evening is as important a part of being in the Giltspur Singers as performing in the concerts
  • Membership is by audition following a couple of weeks' trial period.  We try to make the audition as painless as possible -- please don't be put off by it!
